About Heinz Canada

The history of the H.J. Heinz Company in Canada began over 100 years ago with an enterprising young man named Henry Heinz. In 1909, after building a successful company in United States, Heinz chose Leamington –the heart of Ontario’s tomato growing region—as the most suitable site for the first-ever expansion of his operations outside the USA. Today Leamington is the second largest Heinz plant in the world.

With the growth of its foodservice business, Heinz began producing its dressings, sauces and toppings products in St. Marys, Ontario in 2004. In 2006, Heinz invested in a significant expansion of this same facility. Heinz Canada’s third and smallest factory is located in Toronto.

Best known for its iconic Heinz® Ketchup, the H.J. Heinz Company is Canada's leading processor and marketer of high quality ketchup and condiments, infant foods, pasta sauces, canned beans and pasta, and specialty sauces and salad dressings through all retail and foodservice channels. Heinz Canada employs more than 1200 people in Ontario and across the country.
